Hi Louie!

Thanks for you query and please pardon my ignorance about the technical term "TVC".

According to Mang Rod, this is a transformer type passive preamp. As you can see in the photos, there are two small transformers personally wind by MR using a 38-gauge wire for the left and right channels. It also uses a 24-step attentuator.

looks promising. I was just thinking these are the kinds of products that would be doable by pinoys since most of the processes involved dont require super hi-tech equipment. all thats needed is a lot of patience & a high regard for quality control.

Frankly, am quite impressed with the detail and soundstage when mated with my B&K power amp or my tube Trodt amp. Totally no hum.

As usual, i came the second one to own a piece of this new creation of MR.

For now, MR doesn't have the specs yet. But he does need someone who has the gadget to measure the true rating or gain of this gear.

Very promising indeed. The unit seems to appear as simple as it is. But oh boy. . . With those fine wires, the winding and the soldering efforts of Mang Rod really demand boundless patience on his part to do the job.

This is a passive preamp (transformer-based volume control). Don't think there's any gain here. Probably a gain in clarity and transparency in the musical presentation! :wink:

Of course you can have gain in a TVC, that's why I'm asking.

you know mang rod is such a simple person he does not have measuring instruments to measure, but has definitely the talent, better than people who can measure, to me and i think the best measure of this piece of mr is not some thing you see with your eyes but what you hear from your ears, and that s audio for you,at least for me

when i buy audio equipment I listen to it, i dont read the specs which i half understand anyway, just like esaudio got one and its ffffffffffffffaaaaaaaaaannnnnntttttttaaaaaaaaastic to my ears!
