We used to own a GARRARD Turntable.
Rust has eaten it away eversince my dad stoped listening to LP's

The only thing that was left behind was the 45 RPM Adaptor.

When I was a kid I used to play with the tt cueing alot of LP's, pilling them till the motor can't run anymore, If only I knew.

Yup, I agree, just like yours too. Thanks.

I have yet to work on that. Finding the matching cart at my budget may take sometime.
I've just started with a Supex Sd-900 Super but it seems a little too lean for my taste.

It is a NEAT Model GA-22S 35cm Professional Micro Balanced Type Tone Arm made by Neat Onkyo Denki Co Ltd, Japan.

You Need and SPU!

Postby setup6 » Mon Nov 15, 2004 8:34 am

With that, you need an SPU!

I recently used [and broke] a Supex SD 900. They say that this was the predecessor of the koetsu. I found it rather balanced and musical, though. Sa stepup siguro.

One time, someone brought a lyra parnassus(?) and a zyx (forgot the model) that he was using with his 301 in HK. They were leaner actually than the supex. It retrieved a great more detail but it was nowhere to my liking.

I am most happy with the SPU and you have the pre-requisites- a nice vintage table, a great 12-inch s-type arm [though ok din siya with an sme 3009].

Galing niyan, ako yung na-eexcite ata para sa iyo.

Dong & Juls,

Sure, as soon as i find a matching cart.

Rene,

Retouching photos is becoming a bad habit of mine. If you look closely at the bottom photo, putol pa rin yung mga lever. Retouched lang yung upper photo para maganda tingnan. [Thanks for the 301] :D

Nilo,

I like how the the SPU looks like and how it sounds at Joel's. Will surely enjoy hunting one down.

BTW, my arm is effectively a 10 incher (10.6 inches actually) only.

Thank you Guys! 8)

pigdog's garrard 301 schedule no.1

Postby pigdog » Sat Feb 04, 2006 10:20 pm

as some of you readers may have seen from Hypertriode's page, my recently acquired garrard 301 with a custom made plinth courtesy of Handyman. unfortunately there are some issues wiht the turntable and it is in the shop, hopefully the tech can sort out the problem... in the meantime the analogue boys in hongkong were shaking thier heads when i told them i plan to use a sumiko blue mc carthridge on my garrard, somehow they felt that twith teh SME 3009, an MM carthridge is more suitable.. any thoughts on this?

my garrard 301 is finally up and running and everything is looking fine and dandy! the turntable went through some very rough handling courtesy of the bagage handlers of NAIA and CLK Airport... this inspite of my oversized warning not to throw the box into the conveyer... the turntable's motor was misaligned by almost 30 degrees ! thank god these turntables are mechanical and built like tanks! it should continue to spin for the next 50 years or so! the garrard is also coupled onto Rene rivo's wonderfully built andy grove designed phono stage using 3 6922 valves. a perfect combination made in audio heaven!
