just curious as to whether or not the huge wooden platter on top of the regular platter adds to any sonic improvement? maybe it helps dumps vibration or resonance? also given the extra weight by the wooden platter, will this make the motor work harder?

Nice :) The wood platter would somehow provide better resonance, as well as to dampen any ringing effect due to the stock metallic platter of the garrard :) Likewise, that wood clamp would result to a tight mid-bass and a better soundstage :)

If I ever get a chance to have a 301 I will provide a concrete material for ultimate resonance. Go flintstone!!!

Why wait for a 301?

I think you can make a concrete plinth for your Thorens TD124... 8)

Actually I am currently working on that plan right now with my second TD124. It is just too intensive; para tayong sculptor dahan dahan natin sinishape. Ill show you the end product when its done.
