This is a great setup! Congrats! And, yes, I am interested in trying slate for my 301 as well. Could you let us know where you sourced the plinth? (And the arms too?)

hear! hear!

how'd you tame it's brittle qualities? when Paul Mamimili tried to do his, it shattered into a thousand pcs. or is that plinth of yours sourced and serviced from abroad.

we're all ears :D

Wohoo! Very nice!!

I love my Schick arm too. Ever since I installed it, never bothered to tweak it.

Oh, as for the slate plinth, did you use water jet cutting?

Congrats!

Hi to all!

I knew everyone would be asking for the source of the slate :D

It was sourced locally. No problem with that. I did have a hard time looking for someone willing to drill it though. As some of you may have experienced, it is brittle and tends to crack/splinter.

However, I did find EUROASIA. It is a large company that supplies and installs stones (granite, slate, etc) on a large scale. They were the ones daw who did the installations in the Makati Stock Exchange, Sgangrila Hotel, etc. They have large industrial type drilling and cutting machines that can handle the job. I was apprehensive at first, specially when it came to the small bolt/screw holes. But they assured me that they have done it. "How else could we have installed the towel dowels and bathroom fixtures if we can't drill small holes?!" :P . Oo nga naman!

Anyway, EUROASIA is located at the MC Home Depot at the Fort. Look for Ms. Che Pilapil. I dont have the calling card right now so I cant post the phone number.

thanks for all your comments. :!: :D

sir dante,

the schick arm is the 2nd of 3 arms ( tonya's, mine and :?: )ordered directly from thomas schick last year pa. I'll let the owner of the 3rd arm reveal himself! But most probably, the 3rd arm will be unveiled installed on a non-garrard tt. The stax 12 incher was bought from ebay. I intended it to be the only arm for this tt. We've actually given up on the schick arms. But after almost 7 months, thomas schick suddenly sent an email that the 3 arms were ready to be shipped out! That's how i ended up with this dual John Holmes setup

Ahh, yes! Just want to confirm bro!. I have no intention in "sabotaging" the revelation.

Of course, a beautifully simple approach! Now, why didn't I think of that?

What a gorgeous plinth, it looks so elegant. Congratulations :D

My attempt was done using Indian slate. It was cut with a water jet (no problem), but when they tried to grind it flat it shattered into a MILLION pieces :(

One day, i will try slate again, but for now i will stay with wood :D
