The FLINTSTONE edition :!: :lol2: ....well, actually Italian granite. Wanted to see how my OB Garrard 301 would look like set in stone:

Wanting a better stand/rack w/c was taller, had the strength to support the heavy granite plinth and would still afford vibration damping, I had this custom made for me:

It's 42kgs of solid rubber :!:

I started to assemble it yesterday after I got the stone. A friend dropped by, and I re-set two of his ttables. We finished late with the fixin' n listenin'. :D I still hadn't mounted the cart. I decided to sleep & woke up 4:30am today to mount the cart.

I played a record...   Awesome :!: :!: :!:

Two of my neighbors TonyA & Pio heard it this am. They were all smiles... :D

Good question. When you heard it, the FR cart was mounted on a stock RB300 on my Michell Orbe. Comparing the same cart on a bnew OL Silver on the 301, I noticed improved PRAT w/c I attribute to the tonearm more than the ttable/plinth. I like how the same records sound on this rig.

Lito, any idea of the weight of your new plinth? Just wondering if an SQ stewardess will have problems lifting my suitcase over her head with a stone plinth inside

Just spent a few hours with my old Mycro and i am certain i prefer the vintage sound, or maybe i just prefer wood to acrylic?
Anyway, enough listening to drop my planned DIY acrylic TT project and try stone.

Paul- I know I should have, but I forgot to weigh the plinth before and after the cut-out... Still, it's heavy. You should try stone for a plinth. The beauty of it is in the natural colors and texture of each stone.

Nes & Danny- Thank you for your comments. Among my ttables, it stands out the most, maybe because of the contrast in color of it's parts. :D

very nice doc. How thick are the stones?

actually I'd been toying with the idea of replacing the acrylic plinth of my perspective to granite. i have extra pieces 20 mm thick from the renovation of my kitchen.

Paul,

to get an approximate weight, get the volume of the stone in cubic meters and multiply by 2.8. You get the approximate weight in metric tons. multiply by 1000 and you get the weight in kilograms.

cheers.

Vince,

Double arm TT still with him playing. It's a different Garrard 301 with a distinct Flavor :D .

Malay natin baka may nakatago pang iba sa storage room/operating room ni doc Orca - Doc ilabas mo na :D :D :D
