He can get slate from anywhere easily :D , except Welsh slate :(
I showed him 301 plinth cutout photographs and a Rega plinth, he said "No problem" :D

I plan to have a simple 20 or 25mm plinth made for a Mycro, as it will fit in my handcarry suitcase, i can test the waters with airlines and you guys can check the workmanship.

Early days, work intrudes so i guess the end of March before i get the plinth back to Manila.

 Hope springs eternal :!: I've got to see that plinth, Paul. I'm sure your Mycro will be a beaut :!: 8) Do inform us so we can sked a visit to your place :!: :D

Tuna man, baka may alam ka?

as far as i know and i have seen it done, water jet cutters are nrmally used in the oil and gas industry. for repairing pipelines normal torch cutting cannot be used for obvious reason. water jet cutters going as high as 14,000 psi are used instead. they are normally in the form of circular clamp with tiny nozzles and wrapped around the pipes to be cut. these are specialized tools are are very expensive.

local granite/marble installers i have seen use mechanized cutters with water nozzles.

i hope this helps.

I was happy, but still wanted more in supporting my granite plinth 301. Was using 3pcs ceramic teacups to support the granite. Here's the pic:

Then I thought if it was possible to incorporate the functions/values I wanted:
1. Support the granite plinth 301
2. Vibration damping
3. Eliminate the stand

I didn't have to look far. My source of inspiration was my SL-1200:

I ended up having this custom-made for me:

It's a solid rubber stand measuring 19in W x 19in L x 22in H. There's just a cut-out to slip in the innards of a 301. This stand/rack/isolator/bottom-plinth weighs in at 42kgs :!:

How does it sound? Before listening, I started hopping around it. No stylus jumping out of the grooves. In my wooden floored attic, just walking near the ttable would cause the stylus to jump. Not so anymore :!: :D

Playing the same recordings I did a few nights ago, I noticed that the sonics became crisper, airier and focused. Bass was also tighter and I was so much happier :!: :D Nice thing too, was that the wifey approved of it's looks. Another bonus, is that it's far easier now cueing up a record.

According to quarterback, these are used in building foundations to protect against earthquakes.

Paul- It's custom-made, consisting of thick rubber sheets laminated together with industrial grade rubber cement. It's heavy at 42kgs. It required 2 persons to carry it upto my attic. It has solved my problems with footfalls. :D I'm very happy with the improved sonics (vs the teacup version). Time to move onto other projects...

hmmm....the last brownout was caused by the mysterious theft of the rubber dampers at the calaca power plant.

doc why don't you couple the 301 directly to the rubber? phono cabling problem?
