Garrard LAB w/ SME 3009 s3 in BLACK w/ SMOOTH PLY EDGES

Postby joe3rp » Thu Oct 11, 2007 8:26 pm

This is my first ALL-PLY plinth…a total of 55 ply.
Image
The ply is invisible in some angles, then visible in other, stained to allow crosscut plys to absorb more stain to have the "natural stripe effect"

Classic SME 3009 series 3 arm, with replaceable arm/headshell wand.

Ingat lang sa bearing sir. Make sure that it's always lubricated, and the bearing balls are always complete.

Hello Joey,

Wow! Nice one.

One heavy and one light mass arm combo. Would there be a problem on the SME side being close to the motor side? I mean vibration and magnetic field source. If the SME II has a screen cylinder and a Faraday cage is being employed, induction is moot but what about the vibration? How did you mount the tonearm to the plinth?

I have a mint Lab 80 complete even with the original dust cover that is long overdue for a plinth replacement and this plinth looks like the ticket.

Thanks

Abe

The owner picked up his garrard this evening. It felt like the longest/hardest set-up yet. I made him audition it as I have had it this week - with MY GRADO red...it sounded pretty good.

He informed me earlier this week he will bring this Decca cart this weekend when he picks up his table...no problem really...until he brought his "non-audiophile wife"...SHE was really nice and friendly and VERY PATIENT!!! But a non-audiophile wife=kalaban!!!

AKO ANG MAY PROBLEMA...I just find it psychologically hard that a pair on non audiophile eyes (hostile) watching and looking at all the "stupid/weird" rituals and tools coming out .... A simple swap became extra hard and long. FYI The arm was an SME 3009 ser3....

Again the wife was really nice, patient, quiet ...ako ang praning...

Good thing, no accidents and the tt system sounded good compared to my other analog rigs! :D

IS IT JUST ME?

eNJOY....upGRADE!!! 301!!!!!!!
