Rek-O-Kut and vintage tonearms!

Postby setup1 » Tue Dec 12, 2006 10:52 pm

Hello classic analog enthusiasts!

Now that TD124s, 301s and 401s as well as SME 3012/3009 and Ortofon tonearms have caught the interest of mainstream press. It's time to investigate alternatives.

Hi Joseph, are you back? (from photography) :D

The ROK also achieved a cult status of some sort, specially when you read AA. I've been wanting to see the innards of a ROK, so thank for for avery informative link.

Cheers!

Cool...really cool!

Looking forward to your opinion on the R-O-K micropoise. As you know, my friend and i have been struggling with his b-12h but we have not really had time with it since the hectic holidays season started.

Inspired by JE, please find below the turntables recently collected by a vintage turntable collector from a nearby province south of Manila. I just hope THE Turntable collector wont crucify me for sharing his treasures.

Hi DCO,

How's your ROK B12? I'd like to see the outcome of your project.

We're all aware, there are many 301s and TD124s here and thanks to Paul for starting a thread on Lencos. Let's revive the ROK thread then......

Here's my first installment, from my mono system - repainted Rondine Deluxe B12H/Velvet Touch/DL102 (right) and Argonne 10"/GE VRII (left).

Image

Next will be another ROK set up for stereo.

It seems like there are already a handful of ROKs floating around locally. Owners please post your projects, thanks!

:( When will the inspiration cease? :(
I am now thinking of getting a part time job to fund audio purchases, barman sounds good, gigolo sounds better but i left it about 20 years and 8 midriff inches to late

ROK's have to be some of the best bargains around right now, time to investigate!

Have you tried putting it back using the ROK tips linked above? If you need further assistance PM me or Joel.

(btw, did i get that right, a Lenco arm would make a good arm for mono? hope you're referring to a L75 arm)

The L75 arm is decent but too light for mono application....L70 is the arm that was supplied with early heavy platter Lencos and looks like this:

I'm trying to stay away from holiday traffic so here's another variation....

Image

FR64fx/DL103 and L-34, same plinth

To those who are wondering: L37 = 33 + 78 and L34 = 33 + 45, same AC synchronous motor but different pulley.
