A next generation subchassis turntable

The new Thorens TD 350 revives our unique subchassis concept with traditional quality and innovative technology. It is the perfect fusion of a mass drive with a subchassis turntable and merges the advantages of both systems. Experience the rebirth of a one-of-a-kind technology, now used in combination with cutting-edge materials and latest knowledge.

The TD 350 employs our newly developed Independent Double Damping (IDD) suspension system, which features independent dampening of horizontal and vertical vibrations. This, a platter weighing more than 9 lbs (over 4 kg) and an extremely low-friction bearing provide the exceptional smoothness and sonic stability you expect. The integrated stabilized control unit is responsible for the highly exact revolution speed. More details such as the ground high precision belt, the diamond-lathed platter with bitumen coating, the smooth and noiseless AC synchronous motor and the excellent tone arm TP 250 add to the amazing sound qualities of the TD 350.

Tweak Studio at the 5th floor of Rustans has a lot of Thorens tables, but I did not see that classic looking TD350.

i believe this model is available at 5th floor rustans.

but i haven't heard it. it looks like an evolved td 160 - 170 series type of tt so probably the "house sound" is still there? probably more due to the arm. the td 800 - 850 and td 2000 - 2030 already have different materials (like acrylic or steel) and don't look like they are spring suspended. these higher end tables also come with the rb250 or rb300 equivalent tone arms.

i'm no means an analog guru but just sharing info :D

i've had the same tt since 1990 (td166mkII) and a technics SL3200 for more than 10 years before that. for the life of me i can't say i know the "house sound" of any turntable :( :? why? because equipment changes (esp amps and speakers) change the sound of the same tt as well. all i can say is whatever it is - house sound - i like it :D

i think MSM who has done extensive tt rolling   will be able to give a good description of the thorens house sound as it relates to other turntables he's had :)
