Highlander's Mountain Cave... Nov 23,2012 Update

Postby highlander » Mon Jul 16, 2007 9:20 pm

Just transferred to my dedicated listening room at the basement this weekend.....

It was a tiring experience since I had to transfer everything from three floors up! :( :?

But it was worth all the effort... :D   Pardon the photo quality

Speakers and the amplifiers...

On a SOLID Molave table...of course... :D

Latest Toy.... 8)

Hope you like it

New Occupants Have Landed

Mr. Golfer is still trying hard!

Update as of Jan 2008

The hotrodded ASL AQ 1006 845 Monos joined the party 8)

Image
Image

Tested my Woodworking skills during the Christmas break and did some 'treatment' (if you might call it :D ) to my room...I'm quite satisfied with the result.. :D

Image

Guess what I'm babysitting right now  ...It's BedroomEyes Audible Illusions  8) ....Whoa :!: What an impact it did to my system...Sana hindi na siya uuwi kina BR  :P

Image

Update as of November 01, 2008...

A weekend's worth of woodworking....A Sand Box to isolate my TT.....cheap but effective.. ;)

Image

Frame is made of kamagong 8)

Image

I used river sand, sifted then sun dried. The top plate is a 3/4 in plywood painted black.

January 2009 Update

Tried rearranging my music room and added some accents...this is how my music room look now :)

Image

Image

April 07, 2009 Update

I saw my old TD-166 MKII gathering dust at our store room. After seeing some WS members restoring some
of their TTs', I told myself why don't I try it on the '166....

First was to replace the old original interconnects. I installed RCA jacks at the back.
Image

Next was the spring mechanical suspension. Dismantled them, painted, and I balance their tension.

Then I made a general clean up and polishing including the dust cover (mentioned in another thread)
Image

Hooked the TD-166 to my Graham Slee phono stage. And boy, can they sing! :o 8)
Image

May 01, 2009 Update

The M97xE arrived! :P :P

Image

Later this afternoon I was able to mount them to my TD166. This is my first attempt to mount a cart :$ :worried:
:wasntme: Set the tracking force to 1.25g as recommended....

Image

Image

Now it's time to listen to them sing! 8)

May 19 2009 Update

To accommodate the second TT and the VPI record cleaner. I ordered a new wooden table. ;)
Image

My back wall is plain concrete. There are some music that tend to have too much Mids....
so I DIY a pair of absorbers. This is how my music room looks now.

Image

August 11 Update

Just completed my 2nd DIY Project - a 12-in Kamagong Tonearm for my VPI TT... ;) 8)

Image

Sept 08,2011 Update

After more than a year, an update to my cave ;)

Talismann V2 Gold cart :o
Image

http://www.clearaudio.de/_en/tan_Talismann%20V2%20Gold.php

and a preowned Symphono ;)
Image

November 23, 2012 Update

Officially joined the Lenco 'R Us bandwagon! :o

Had to revive my carpentry skill to make the plinth... ;) Main plinth is a 4 layer of 1" MDF, top layer being laminated (thus the finish), and a sub plinth made of 2 layer 3/4" plywood.
Image

The tone arm is a 12-inch Jelco 750L :o
Image

Made a 1 inch kamagong arm board
Image

The Feet are from my VPI turntable :P with Kamagong footings ;)
Image

Conducting the orchestra is the CA Talismann V2 :o
Image

This is how my 'altar' look now :inlove:
Image

Hope you like it ;)

Highlander's setup

Postby kabubi » Mon Jul 16, 2007 10:49 pm

nampucha, ang gandaaaaaaaaaa!

it's that rugged brick background that got me. nice, clean and orderly set-up arranged against brick, cement and carpeting. the sound is already a given, but the simple aesthetics take it way up there.

congratulations, amo. hoping you can allow us mere pack rats to pay homage when we find ourselves in your area.

Nice set-up!
I like the 'unfinished' brick wall behind the speakers.
I also like the golfer on top of the left speaker.

On second thought I guess you need to locate a place for your CDs & LPs outside of your music room. It will ruin the nice set up if you will insist it will be placed there

Dami ka pang space outside 8)
