My Man's Cave

Postby Spinlock » Thu Jun 12, 2014 1:21 pm

Hi,

I am new here, please bear with me. I considered myself more of an audio buy and seller rather than an audiophile. I want to try every audio that I can get my hands on and the only way to do it is buy more stuff and sell more stuff, so that I can compare.

Currently, I have these equipment:

Vintage Separates:
Luxman C-120A Preamp / Luxman T-450 Tuner / Luxman M-120A x (2) Bridge
Quad 306 Power Amplifier/ Quad 34 PreamPlifier
McIntosh 2105

Vintage Integrated Amplifier / Tuner / Decks:
Sansui Au-20000 / Sansui TU-9900 Tuner
Sansui AU-517 / TU-717
Pioneer SA-9500ii / Pioneer TX-8500 / CT-F1000
Rotel RA-1312
Marantz CD-73 CD Player

Speakers:
Martin Logan Sequel II
Paradigm Monitor 11
Mission 762i

Turntable: Denon DP-47F / Hitachi HT-561

Tubes: Musical Paradise 300B, Dynaco St-70

AVR: Yamaha RX-V1

These are some of my favourite equipments. My number 1 on the list among my Favourites is my Denon DP-47F. Not sure why but there is something about that turntable that I really like. The Marantz CD-73 Comes in second. I am not sure if we can post picture here. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Not really kabayan, i can restore outside cosmetics but thats it. I dont know how to refurb the inside. I let the professionals do it for me. I forgot to mention that i have the phase linear 400 as well or better known as the flame linear, lol. I also have the not so popular superphon preamp. Not sure if anyone uses this back home. If you are deep into audio, you may like it bec it is like an assembled kit. Ebay price goes to $500. Not sure why but audiophile likes it. I have the sae 2400 VU meter version power amp but one channel does not work. Another is pioneer sa-9900, also one channel does not work. Preamp issues on sa-9900. That model is prone with that issues. I got another power amp and preamp, pioneer elite series. I will post pics once i familiarized myself.

Pardon me for the long script.

....if i may add....

With audio specially the vintage one, You'll never be satisfied. A friend of mine and I a long time ago came to the conclusion that its not having the cool stuff, it's the thrill of the hunt. When you are satisfied, the hunt for vintage audio is over. That will be a sad day!!:s

Nice to meet you guys. Today, i bought another turntable, its the sony ps-x50. Its a decent direct drive turntable. Quite heavy too. But i think my hitachi 561 is heavier. Im going to give it a good test tomorrow. My technics tt will go for sure.

I have the same ttable (Denon DP-47F) and it is an awesome direct drive model. Fully automatic and easy to set up. Freakin convenient and no discernible motor rumble. My cartridge of choice is currently a Dynavector Karat 170. I sometimes switch to a Argent Ruby cartridge (classic -'hard to find anywhere). To continue the signal chain, it is connected to a PS Audio GCPH via White Zombie Silver XLR to a PS Audio PCA-2 preamp, to a NAD 218 THX via another set of White Zombie Silver XLR. My speaker currently is a Dali Mentor 5 (changed form a Focal Profile 918). How does it sound - detailed and fast.
