fascinating to learn about one historical vintage speaker.
cleaning the pot. . .

how much (ilang watts) does this speaker need in order to sound like it was meant to? the AR3a needs something like150-200w, if i am correct.

the AR speakers, i reckon, have that classic "East Coast" sound which can tend to get a little "dark" --- but not in a disadvantageous way. i have a pair of AR3as and i love them. never will part with them. yun nga lang, it needs a lot of ooomph from an amplifier, medyo demanding lang lalo na kung tubes ka all the way. very little option except to go for push-pull design. but you know what? my AR3as were capably driven by your brother's 6c33c monoblocks! i could hardly believe it. that was just a rating of SET 18 watts at best.
nevertheless, i don't want to steal the thunder from your AR2ax. the only suggestion i have to say is to push the EL34 aside and connect 6c33c monoblocks to hear what the difference is like
