These tubes were advertised by original sellers in the USA as strong and matched but out of 12 pairs shipped, I only have 9 matched pairs (6 pcs had problems, either weak or gassy). That's the risk you have if you buy direct from sellers abroad. That's the risk I took for you in buying these tubes. The cost of rejects are factored into the matched pairs which are shown below.

All tubes were tested and passed gas test, shorts and transconductance using the professional Hickok 752 tube tester.

All are rare Globes 45 triode tubes circa 1929-1935. ALL HAVE ENGRAVED BASES!!

(numbers in parenthesis after the tube types are reference test results)

1. RCA 45 (39-40) $250 (matched, tests good)

2. RCA UX 245s (42-42) $280 (perfect matched pair, tests strong) - SOLD

3. Cunningham CX345 (43-45) $300 (matched, tests strong) - SOLD

4. Cunningham CX345 (46-46) $330 (Perfect matched pair, tests very strong) - SOLD

5. Cunningham CX345 (48-48 ) $350 (Perfect matched pair, tests near-NOS) -SOLD

6. Cunningham CX345 (50-50) $375 (Perfect matched pair, tests near-NOS) - SOLD

7. RCA UX245/Cunningham CX345 (43-41) $280 (matched, tests strong)

8. Globe 45s (30-32) $120 (matched, tests minimum, different brands) - SOLD

9. Super-rare engraved Tung-sol 45 (1932) $360 - (strong) - SOLD

(If you find these prices high, buy the Chinese clones for $249/pair instead. They don't sound close to the originals though )

Important: You have to pick-up these tubes and we will test them on-circuit using the 45 SET amp for at least 1 hour before you bring them home. As these are delicate and rare, they are sold AS-IS and carry no other guarantee once they leave my house!

INSTRUCTIONS: Send me a PM (private message) indicating the pairs you are interested in. I will confirm availability to you via PM.

the rca's are superb sounding... a bargain at $250-280...if no takers over the weekend, i will close this thread and keep these remaining tubes for myself.

thanks to all those who got the 70-year old treasures. you may pay in pesos at 55 exchange if you wish.

2 globe 45 users/buyers dropped by last night to listen to the globe tubes. the tubes were all so sweet sounding and nice...4 pairs (2 cunninghams, 1 rca, 1 tung-sol) were picked-up, all the strongest (test) in the batch. the super-rare tung-sols were so clean, we suspect it's NOS. lucky guy. they rarely show up for sale, much less as NOS! now i seem to regret selling them (hehehe)...anyway, take care of them. i suspect he'll end up keeping and not using them. wait 5 more years, they'll be $1000 a pair!

since no one got the 2 last pairs, i decided to keep them. only pair of good 45s at ebay sold for $250 recently...add to that shipping, insurance, taxes and other charges, that's about $320-350 landed. but then, no guarantee they'll work when you get them.

thanks again.

Has anybody compared these old globe 45's to the new stuff like the TJ's or Emission Labs 45's? I'm building a 45 amp and have RCA UX-245's and some Tung Sol ST's but wonder if I should consider new offerings.

Thanks, Bill

The TJs are noticeably more detailed and refined than most NOS 45s with exception to a pair of RCA globe shaped UX245s I have that possess little better top-end extension and more clarity in the midrange.
The TJ45s have a similar charateristic of the other TJ mesh plates including their 2A3 and 300B tubes.
