Galing galing! Nice stuff 'dre!

Boss, napansin ko lang, for the ST-70 you are using 3 Mullards and 1 Svetlana EL34's?
No sonic difference? Just curious boss. I stil have the original Mullards on mine but I am using Winged C and like it better on the extensions and bass tightness. Yes, the Mullards are a tad better in the midrange but from my experiment, the driver tubes (I am using a pair of Telefunken 6922's and a Mullard 6DJ8 on the center) can easily cover for that deficiency.

Also, I found both the Mullard Metal base and Amperex Bugle Boy 5AR4's to be very desirable on my ST70.

Congrats again!

Bossing,
Tanong lang, nasaan napunta iyong bias/power take off sa harapan? Mark II or Mark IV ba yung monoblocks? Parang baligtad ang lay out, bakit nasa kaliwa (sa picture) yung Quad Cap at nasa kanan yung rectifier? Ganda nang tunog niyan! My St-70 (with VTA-Mod) used 3 12AT7 as drivers in pig-tailed configuration. According to my subjective research, the 7199 is not only rare but also not as extended or as linear as other tubes like 6DJ8/6922 (Curcio Mod) and the 12AT7 (VTA-Mod).

My other St-70 (if you could still call it that) is the one with the Welborne mods. Totally different circuit using 6UH8 and 5751 drivers in a constant current mode with separate high and low pass circuitry. Totally different sound. In this I'm using Siemens 6CA7 (EL-34), Siemens 5751 and Siemens 6UH8s. Enjoy. Godspeed.

Nice amp Chief .... I agree, the Mullards sounds best in our ST70, especially matched with Mullard 5AR4 and blackplates 7199. Cheaper alternative is Svets el34 with either Mul or JJ 5ar4s. BTW, if ever, anybody is interested, I have a spare matched quad set of primo Mullard EL34 XF1 which I'm willing to part with, used a little under 15 hours for testing (I'm keeping my other set) ... please PM. Thanks!
