I like the word "natural!"

Everytime I'm confronted with nature, I become speechless, and forget "hifi!"

Which LS might this be? This may seem an absurd question to ask. But some folks even quarrel over which LS 3/5a is the best sounding. I wonder why?

Okay, I am interested in the Ls3/5a as well. Any website I can look at? I am not sure what, if there's any type of LS3/5a to look for. How much do they cost? I have a limited audio budget so I need to ask before digging in some more.

thanks....

Sir,

The first and third pictures are of LS3/5a. The second one is of an S3/5, which is a different loudspeaker, but also good.

Amandarae, that's a Spendor S3/5. Designed after the LS3/5A but not the same baby.

For info, check out the links I posted above. For an idea of the types/brands, check out the shootout conducted by Ken Kessler. It's on the site. The direct link is here:

Since you're in the U.S., LS3/5A's can be had at ebay for about US$850-1,500 on average. One went for $2,500 a few weeks ago.

Not familiar with used prices for the S3/5. It's a good speaker but if you want an LS3/5A then you should get the real mama.

There are some LS3/5A's on ebay right now. A group of NOS pairs (note the LS3/5A needs years of burn-in to sound best) and a 15ohm Rogers.

mozilla,

Yep, I found the listing on ebay!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=14991&item=3093847958&rd=1

I'll see what I can manage. But I do not think I will pay $2500 for it though as the other listing got as you mentioned. So if the bidding on this one approaches that figure, I might not even try joining in :) :)

thanks...

Don't worry about that. That was a record at $2,650.. Sometimes it can get crazy at ebay. If you check the history of completed items, you'll see it's within your budget.

But just in case you wanna see the record purchase, it's at:

Why the LS 3/5a?

Ask any BBC engineer about it, and they'll tell you why perhaps.

The most expensively thought-out speakers. It cost a million dollars to design.

Soundwise? It's one hell of a speaker that matches your natural amp -- the ears!! God had foreseen stereo, so He equipped us with a mono mono amp! Frequency range: limited to sound most natural! The n ice part is everybody's got a pair!

Fire away!
