JR 149 found in the bargain basement!

i just came across a pair of cylindrical JR149 with a red JR badge i am not very familiar with these but upon testing them, they sounded very nice, sort of a like a beefier LS35/a. i read that these are "domesticated" version of the the LS35/a as designed by jim rogers in the latge 70s the asking price is in my opinion rather low at php18000 condition is B to B+
as there are some marks on the top wooden housing, otherwise it works well. i am considering these pair as i needed a small and inexpensive pair of monitors for a small room. would appreciate comments from those in the know. btw Richard Yim our fellow WS member from HK and LS35/A expert speaks glowingly of these speakers, could it be that i may have stumbled into a remarkable bargain?

The drive units themselves would already cost a fortune especially the green graded sp 1003 B110's

JR 149

I used to have them for a really long time (77-99) and for me, they sounded better than the LS3/5a (and many many other speakers in their time) as they had better bass and the cylindrical form of the speakers gave them better imaging. Of course, you couldn't play them really loud and the foam surrounds disintegrates (I doubt your find would even have them). In all, they are excellent speakers!
