INTRODUCING NAIM UNITIQUTE!

Connect with your music like never before

It’s a cliché we know, but good things come in small packages. The UnitiQute all-in-one audio player however isn’t just good: it’s a brilliant-sounding, uniquely versatile, seductively compact and, of course, irresistibly cute example of what contemporary music in the home is all about. Music downloads, high-resolution music files, internet radio, network music, UPnP™ servers, iPod/MP3 players, Wi-Fi streaming - everything that the new era of music delivery can throw at it, UnitiQute can play.

Music for everyone

Just like NaimUniti, its multi-award-winning sibling, UnitiQute is right at the forefront of modern music delivery technology, and its significance for music enthusiasts of all aspirations is far greater than the simple sum of its component parts. For the committed enthusiast with an existing Naim setup, UnitiQute can not only deliver exceptional Naim music-making as a second system, but also play the role of gateway to all the new digital music delivery formats - from USB memory sticks, UPnP™ streaming to internet radio. For the more casual listener, UnitiQute can take the place of both the old hi-fi system and the iPod dock, sound far better than either, and at the same time introduce new worlds of audio ripe for exploration.

Small box...Big on features

For starters, UnitiQute includes a preamplifier with two analogue inputs, five 24bit/192kHz-capable digital inputs and all the traditional Naim musical clarity and transparency. Next, UnitiQute includes a muscular power amplifier that provides all the rhythmic punch and definition you would expect from Naim. You want conventional radio? Well, UnitiQute includes FM and DAB tuners that get the best possible performance from either format. UnitiQute is happy also to play music from an iPod or MP3 player via its front panel-mounted USB socket. The USB audio connection is digital so iPod sound quality is optimised, and Apple authenticated too so compatibility is seamless. And the same USB socket can be used to play music files in almost any format at up to 24bit/96kHz resolution straight from a memory stick. And it doesn’t end there. A network Ethernet socket and integrated Wi-Fi means that, along with everything else, UnitiQute can easily tap into Internet radio or UPnP™ servers, a Naim HDX for example, to drop almost unlimited music choices right into your lap. Talk about cute.

Easy access to your music

Bringing everything audio, digital and analogue together is one thing, but making it all work seamlessly together is something else entirely. UnitiQute is controlled by a dedicated remote handset in combination with a large, clear display. The UnitiQute user interface borrows the principles of intuition and accessibility, and much of the substance, from the already proven NaimUniti interface. The interface is clear, intuitive, uncluttered and makes light work of access to UnitiQute’s remarkable versatility and performance. And an iPhone/iPod Touch Uniti control App, expected early in 2010 will enhance the UnitiQute experience still further and raise its brilliance yet another notch.

Then there are the multi-room audio opportunities that UnitiQute opens up. With a UPnP™ server, a wireless network router and a UnitiQute you have a very high performance hi-fi system with access to almost limitless music. Add a second, or even a third UnitiQute and you have a multi-room hi-fi system that installs effortlessly, is easily modified and sounds outstanding.

According to CES reports, SRP is $1,995. With the current exchange rate and AA's standard discount, selling will be in the low 70s only! :) :) :)

Qute is expected to be released in March. Hence, they are likely to be available here in April.

Thank you for your interest! :) :) :)

Naim Introduces UNITISERVE HARD DISK PLAYER / SERVER

Image

Where do you store your CD collection?

On shelves? In a cupboard? Sometimes scattered, on the floor? With UnitiServe, every CD you own can be stored, catalogued and ready to play at the press of a key, the click of a mouse or the touch of an iPhone.

UnitiServe is a compact, slot-loading, CD ripping, hard disk music player and server based on the technology of the multi-award-winning Naim HDX. It takes the fundamentals of the HDX; a massive internal hard disk drive, Naim bit-perfect ripping, Ethernet connection, UPnPTM server, StreamNet technology and local digital outputs, and combines them with a set of features perfectly suited to music in the home of today, and tomorrow.

All things to all music lovers

An audio system can grow around UnitiServe. It can replay ripped CDs into a digital input-equipped amplifier, such as the SUPERNAIT or a digital to analogue converter like Naim's DAC, for example, with all the engaging Naim musical insight, musical performance and clarity you would expect. In addition the UnitiServe can operate as a UPnPTM server to stream audio to any UPnPTM playback device over a home network, such as NaimUniti or UnitiQute, to create a simple and fantastic sounding multi-room system. And for those wanting to put sound quality at the centre of whole-home control, UnitiServe is StreamNet-enabled and can also function as the heart of a sophisticated IP-based NaimNet* multi-room system. However you choose to use UnitiServe, it can be controlled by an iPhone or iPod touch device running a dedicated Naim app, a touch screen, or a computer anywhere on the home network either via a web browser or the Naim Desktop Client application.

CD liberation

UnitiServe is not just limited to CD format audio or its internal storage. It can also play back audio from a USB memory stick and will scan the network for music stored on NAS drives or network shares in WAV, AIFF, FLAC, ALAC, OGG Vorbis, AAC, WMA and MP3 formats at up to 24bit/192kHz resolution. A variant of the UnitiServe - the UnitiServe-SSD is also available. The UnitiServe-SSD has no internal hard-disk storage and is intended for use in network systems where ripped data is stored exclusively on NAS drives.

Ovator S-600 in Top 10 Greatest Speakers

Image

The Ovator S-600 has been declared one of the top 10 greatest loudspeakers in a recent listing by Steve Guttenberg in his Audiophiliac blog, as posted on cNet. The blog lists Naim alongside other speaker engineering greats....

Naim Ovator S-600. Britain's Naim Audio Ltd. is best known for its amplifiers and CD players, but this new speaker breaks a lot of rules and sounds less like a box speaker than anything on the planet. With super-tight bass, uninhibited dynamic punch, superlative midrange tone, and pure treble, the S-600 is a strong contender on a number of fronts. At $10,450 it's priced near the low-end for today's state-of-the-art speakers.

Naim's First DAC, Rated 5 Stars by What Hi-Fi!!! (August 2010)

Image

"Once fed with a decent source - we used Naim's CDx2 and Cyrus' CD Xt SE+ as disc transports as well as various iPods, iPhones and memory sticks - the sonic results are deeply impressive.....

The DAC's sound deliver is an apparently contradictory mixture of sonic simplicity and a high level of detail resolution. It defines the structure of music with determination, choosing to prioritise stability and punch.... the Naim prefers to communicate the musical message first and foremost.

The Naim doesn't favour any particular type of music either. It's as happy pounding out the beats of Timabaland's Shock Value II as it is delivering the haunting Memories from the Moon OST. In each case, the timing is spot-on, with strong dynamics, particularly in the bass frequencies. A decently even tonal balance and good refinement completes the long list of plus points.

There's no denying that, even as standard, this DAC is pricey, but its performance is at the leading edge at this price level."
