Need advice from REL Sub users

Postby soundpurist » Sun Jan 10, 2016 11:59 am

While the brochure clearly instructs users to use high-level neutrik "speakon" cable running directly from the speaker posts of the power amp driving the speakers to the high level input socket in the REL Sub, there is that conventional option of using RCA IC from pre amp to the sub. Sorry for my ignorance on this, but being a believer of sub woofers in audio I've been used to integrate it in my system thru IC from pre amp to active subs not from power amp to active subs and REL is an active sub. Please share your actual experiences. Maraming salamat.

I'm not a REL sub user but this might help. The reason why it is advised to use the speaker line is that you get the sonic signature of your amp passed on to your sub.

I have 2x8 inch quakes connected as follows:
- high level connections, 1 for each of my speakers in my 2 channel setup
- via low level connection from my AVReceiver (using a RCA splitter so that both subs are connected from the one sub pre-output)

better integration. main speakers remain full range while the sub covers the lower freq mainly from its internal amp. both stereo amp and rel amp happy *smile*
