Thanks bro. No crossover yet since Mr. D is still contemplating whether to go the passive or active route.

for that investment I highly suggest to go active. regards lovejbl

I would really like to go active with this one but budget and time contraints do not allow this at this time. I've posted on another thread a plea for help... if someone is willing to lend me two amps and a preamp, plus a digital crossover, I'd really appreciate it. Desmo, I believe has offered to lend me his unused preamp, plus AbadSantos 7 has also offered his SET 2A3 (but it needs checking and is in Pampanga).... I would also be needing a digital crossover... haay...

At least ma-try ko man lang marinig sana ang speakers before ako magpagawa ng 2A3 ko sa mga masters dito.

Salamat.

Well, I can vouch for these speakers using a passive crossover. I wasn't keen on using a digital crossover because of the signal would go into the digital domain and then back to analogue again, but that's just me ;)

Larry, is that a port for the bass enclosure that you've added?

Clinton,

Yes. The difference is with your box the port is positioned at the back of the speaker.

I can bring a passive 2nd order crossover that i can borrow from lin so we can also test . but said crossover is not in the league of carbondated's crossovers which have premium parts (flat coil inductors and mundorf caps).

Onken with a twist

Postby camotecue » Wed May 02, 2012 12:27 pm

For a member from the South. Another onken box for Altec 416 woofers. Horns to be used are original altec horns for large format drivers. Horns shall fit exactly the front profile (arc) of the box. Solid narra laminate on 1-1/2" thk. baffle. Side and top panels are made also from 1-1/2" thick marine ply. More or less 100 kilos per box. No problem, however, in moving the cabinets since they have hidden rollers. Top and sides are wenge stained. Cloth grilles are Lin Gomez-inspired.

I will post more pictures once the horns are in place.

Thanks for looking.

Thanks doc. Kelangan nga lang ng bigger room nyan to shine. Isa sa mga pinaka-magandang mag-deliver ng bass yang cabinet design na yan. Especially with the altec 416.
