Horns shall fit exactly the front profile (arc) of the box. Solid narra laminate on 1-1/2" thk. baffle. Side and top panels are made also from 1-1/2" thick marine ply. More or less 100 kilos per box. No problem, however, in moving the cabinets since they have hidden rollers. Top and sides are wenge stained. Cloth grilles are Lin Gomez-inspired.

I will post more pictures once the horns are in place.

Have seen these brass horns still in the rough. Thick and very heavy. I don't think ringing will be an issue on this pair. Congrats, dre.

The last time I think it's 300, 1.5k and 10khz. Better ask Tito. It's 4-way but tri-amped only. Naka-highpass lang ang tweeter.

kid marasigan's onken + le cleach horn

Postby camotecue » Tue Aug 28, 2012 1:00 pm

Tired of his jbl paragons, kid decided on a new cabinet and horn combination using the paragon's original parts.

shown with some PA speakers in the background

with original condition jbl 150-4 woofers

Back of the midrange horn showing one of jbl 375 compression drivers in original condition (notice the red seal at the back of the driver).

and original jbl O75 tweeters

Tested with the 300B SET amp of lin gomez. I never thought the original crossovers would work but they did (please see picture of the crossover below). I had goosebumps listening to the male voice in Track 5 of HD Mastering Voice CD.

JBL Paragon Speaker Restoration

Postby camotecue » Tue Sep 25, 2012 11:15 am

I was entrusted by a friend to restore the speaker cabinets. This paragon has some missing wooden parts that have to be fabricated. I am sure this paragon will make a nice conversation piece once they are done.

Some pictures:

Trial veneering using red oak wood veneer.

Hoping to achieve something like this: (taken from The VintageKnob)

I will upload more pictures as the project develops.
