one problem with this hobby is you never stop doing something.

my new altec-inspired midhorn.

oca imperio, the guy behind this project, has another pair. he can't wait to listen to these once they're finished.

thank you bros.

these will even look better after finishing. only the inside part of the horn is veneered since you really cannot see the outer part of the horn when it's set-up. the fins are made of solid tanguile. very difficult to do in the beginning. lots of trials and errors. but you know the feeling of having done something.

thanks.i'l be using the same klipsch k55v driver that i have now. this driver sounds very good especially in my average listening of 1watt amp power. lin gomez has lots of drivers that can be used with this horn.

Beautiful piece of work Larry. Congratulations and more power.

Great support as usual for the DIYer from Mr. Kabubi and Mr.Carlosmiguel. Your ideas and enthusiasm are fertile ground for Pinoy creativity.

thank you guys. a lot more room for improvement. if only i have more resources, everything would be perfect. a jig alone would cost me P20,000, more or less, so this is not my route. ofcourse, everything could be made easier with a jig because the machine here can press plywood or mdf with any curve perfectly.

i might be able to listen to these this weekend.

these are not exact replicas of the 511B though they are patterned after it. i'm planning on doing a solid wood exact copy of the 511 though (will i be doing something illegal?). but going solid is much more expensive.

i will be crossing the midhorn at 400 hz. i'm currently using a loaned original altec 511B (from lin gomez) crossed at 400 hz in my system and it is playing perfectly.
