App to test turntable speed

Postby TheAnalogSource » Fri Jan 30, 2015 10:45 am

Having fun with this app testing turntable speed. Just put your android device on top of the spinning platter and it gives the rpm readout.
Disclaimer. I haven't test this compared to my tachometer so I have no idea on the accuracy.
But just in case you are interested, look for RPM Calculator on the Playstore.

Works fine even on 16.75 RPM. Tried it up to 45RPM. Most likely it'll work on 75RPM pero di ko na inattempt, baka humagis na telepono ko kahit may rubber mat. haha. :D Used strobe disk as a reference .Thanks Tas

Tried it on the VPI Scout. It's 33.3 to the dot.

The app really works. Now, if there is an app to test VTF and azimuth, kindly post. And soon enough, an app to align the cartridge too. Technology is never underestimated. :) The android may even ask if you prefer Baerwald or Loefgren.

if smartphone screens nowadays can detect pressure and derive force out of it, its possible. But unfortunately they do not afaik. That's why there's no legit app that can transform your smartphone into a small weighing scale. Thus VTF, as of now, may not be possible. But who knows, there might be some other way to at least derive VTF from a smartphone. :)
