Phono preamp matching

Postby tenderobject » Sat Sep 27, 2014 5:52 pm

Salamat!

Jef,

baka yung output impedance nung Art DJ pre mo, di match sa input impedance nung NAD, or talagang mahina lang yung gain nyang phonostage mo

If you have a tubed buffer (like the MF x10D), insert it between the phono preamp and your nad. It should resolve the impedance mismatch.

If after inserting the buffer and still the same, then Jon is right on the low gain.

Another thing, if you set the volume to 12 o'clock, how's the quality of the sound? Usually, we should judge the sound more on the quality rather than on the volume gain setting.

I'll try to test again the turntable later.

Meron Main in/Pre out ang NAD 326bee.. Kung kumuha kaya ako ng Preamp with phono and linestage. Possible bang gawing poweramp ang NAD 326bee? Bad idea?

You should consider the AT turntable as a factor. I've haven't opened one but on some net discussion even if you set it on bypass the signal still pass thru the circuitry minus the riaa compensation

mababa ang gain ng outboard preamp mo that is why you have to compensate that with the volume on your main amp.....
but the question now is you think the sound quality is not good because of that?

some folks associate sound quality with volume levels...

you can send your preamp to JojoD for gain upgrades.... 8)

no problem, that is what the volume control is there for...
looking at your phono preamp, i suspect that is an IC type so increasing gain should not be hard..
