I bought this LP in one of those very commercial record stores in SM.
I like Joey Albert, so when I saw this album - together with a bunch of other Pinoy artists - I thought, sure. Hurried home, opened the album carefully, cleaned it, popped on my 'table, and prepared to be transported back to the 80s.

I was transported back, all right.
Back to the time when LPs and playbacks were so poor-sounding relative to what we have today, that they are nothing but noise (relatively speaking).

This was the worst-sounding LP I've ever heard that I had wanted to return it and buy myself a McDo or a Snack Shack burger nalang sana.
But I did not.

I like Joey Albert.
But this LP sounds so fake: s_ _ T :o this thing is made in Germany (sabi sa label).

Joey is like 10 rows away.
There's this fake echo.
and she sounded like an 18-year old girl (I can't remember if she was 18 years old THEN, but this recording made her sound like she's just starting to have her period.) Period.

If all those local LPs sound like this - sayang pera.

But for nostalgia, perhaps the 1,000 pesos can be justified.
or not.

Peace.

same here ....

First I bought the two Nievera and FrancisM albums which were quite OK. Soon after, I bought the Joey Albert and
the Bamboo albums when they were released.

Got the same impression as what Egay has written when I played Joey's album, as for Bamboo's ... it looked better
as a decorative sealed piece. Didn't open it for fear it will sound the same as Joey's and manghinayang ako bigla sa
Php 1000 or Php 1200 na yata.

Sad thing is I never bought the next OPM re-issues, lost interest to the local LP "resurgence" due to the Joey Albert
album experience.

Hi Devo,
nakakahinayang nga eh; i had high hopes when Summerbrowne started posting about the possibilities of OPM LPs coming out locally. See his many posts.
I think you did OK by not opening the next album na - you retained its "value" :?:

So - I'd rather go to Grey Market, DSM/Melvyn Chua, LIS/JR for new albums; or order from our fine guys here.

Still, the music is what really matters: wag lang panget sounding :emo: :x

Enjoy the hobby.

Let's just wish that the next offerings will be mastered and pressed better. I got the True Faith LP for the nostalgia as well.

They've done an excellent (excellent is even an understatement) w/ the Aiza Seguerra Audiophile LP. Wish they could do the same w/ the other OPM artists.

HI Jen,
Audiophile LP of Aiza?
Wow.

Anyway, talking about Aiza Albums - I saw several "Audiophile" CDs in Jakarta and I was surprised that it was produced by a foreign company - Japanese?? :?:
But I didn't buy. I thought they were suspicious :geek:

I bought some donuts instead.

Those are the same audiophile-mastered CDs...not in LP format

Here's hoping those who can do something about the sound quality are reading these inputs along with all the others related to the other OPM releases.

My recent attempt at providing constructive feedback is a thread called THE ECONOMICS OF GETTING IT RIGHT.

I tried reaching out to S2S to find out how they pulled off the superb SQ of Aiza's "OPEN ARMS" LP. So far, no luck.
