Tomb Raider: Clearaudio Master Reference Turntable with Clearaudio Master TQI Linear Tracking Tonearm. As to cartridge, I'm not sure. Chances are, its a Clearaudio Insider.

How about the turntable used on one of the Sex and the City episodes where Big and Sarah Jessica Parker danced to the tune of "Moon River"?

Hi Corrtsy,

It's Big's Rega spinning a Blood, Sweat, and Tears Lp....

Indecent Proposal - VPI TNT
A Clockwork Orange - Transcriptors Hydralic Reference
The Sopranos - Sota Sapphire Reference
High Fidelity - older Rega (John Cusack's flat)
Singles - Thorens TD-166 *?*

Hi corrtsy,

Yes I forgot that he played 'moon river' (breakfast at tiffany's)... Plus it was Sarah who picked up the Blood, Sweat, and Tears, LP after (if I remember correctly) Big returned the record in its sleeve... Then she started asking sumthing like this (cant remember exacttly): "Was I even born yet when these things were..blahblahbalh...".... Big replied that it was hard to explain, and it was one of those essential things in life one could not live without, and he goes on saying that the Lp's are also precious to him because he inherited then from his deceased parents... I remember that they danced to 'moon river', but then the minty record started to skip and kiiled the whole ambience... I guess there was 'hard dir't within the record groove even if it was minty...

BTW, this thread should be transferred to the new Analog section :)

I wasn't able to watch the entire movie :( , but just a part of it. There was this scene from "The Rundown" when "The Rock" threw a turntable, which looks like a Technics SL1200 (I just assumed that, since the setting was in a disco pub) to a bad guy trying to escape. :D

Poor turntable. :(

Bill Joy, formerly Chief Scientist of Sun Microsystems, is an audiophile. The picture below was taken from Page 98 of Fortune magazine, October 13, 2003 issue.

Image

Not only does he have tube amplification, he also has a turntable, which you will notice if you look close enough (it is right below the shade of the floor lamp).
