Hi Halls,

Whoah.....Correct me if I am wrong? ..... I see here in your post that you can install an N55E stylus in a M97ex Cart?

Regards,

Reminder: This is not my cart. I wish it were. :D It was an honor to tweak the set-up of this rare analog gem this pm. I'm including it here for the cartridge settings data base:

Dynavector DRT XV-1t
VTF: 2.0 gms
VTA: Slightly tail down
AS: 1.9

Lovely cart. Excellent tracker. Very rich musical presentation w/ lots of slam!!! :o :o :o Captivating & unforgetttable performance!!!

I concur with Doc Lito's settings and description. If I win in the lotto - this will be my cart. :D

The XV1t is a musical cart with lots of meat, texture, weight and finesse just like its equally magnificent predecessor, the XV1s but with added vigor and vibrance that simply sets it apart over other state of the art cartridges.

Hansen- You're not the only one who is wishing they'd win the lotto so they can buy this cart!!! :D

Listening to it's performance out-of-the box this pm was a shocking revelation. :o This is truly a state-of-the-art cartridge! 8) There are some things in life one never forgets...like dancing with a beautiful woman...such was my experience this afternoon.

Sama na rin ako to those who can only wish  That cart, as doc lito described it, is one heluva 'musical instrument' which can play all genre with so little effort (Epoy, free advertising na ito for you  ). I really enjoyed this afternoon of music most especially in the presence of my analog friends

Noly- Thanks. I'm very happy for the new owner and most grateful & thankful that he trusted me enough to tweak the set-up of this most special cartridge. The sonic palette this cart dished out was a 5-star dinner prepared by a master chef. We were on the edge waiting to hear how each recording was transmuted from vinyl into analog gold. We were not disappointed! As Val said, it was a wonderful analog afternoon spent with good friends. :)

discovered this gem of a cart and a lovely sounding one, most importantly it matched my nordic arm perfectly. the arm is very ligh and using a lightweight cart made a big difference. i find the Supex to be the equivalent to the poor mans Koetsu

replacing my venerable 47Lab MCBEE which will be sent for repairs

SUPEX SDX-1000 MC
output 0.2mV
VTF : 1.8gms
on Nordic stock arm (schroeders)
no VTA adjustments
no azimuth adjustments
set to Nordic Concept Artiste Ttable
SUT: High Phonic T6S set to low output

Mandy Marino's Wooden Arm
Denon DL103R cart on mammoth ivory casing
Azimuth set to neutral
VTF 2.2gms
VTA slightly toed up depending on my mood!
Nordic Concept Ttable

spending a bit of time learning to match carts with tonearms with help of a master from HK. the nice thing is it cost me very little to achieve a wonderful sound
recently dicsoverd another gem sitting i my cabinet:

Grace F9 Ruby MM
mated to Lustre GST801 arm
VTA set a bit higher for now
VTF at 1.5gm (0.5-2.0)
using renes 6922 tubed PS
on Michele Gyrodec

perhaps one of the nicest MM carts i have had the pleasure of listening and only learned that it was highly sought after, and people do pay big bucks for it, i got mine with my gyrodec 5 years ago and never even tried it! i am now appreciating the beauty of MM carts and slowly doing away with the DL103r

Shelter 201 MM cart
Clear Audio TQ1 Linear tracking arm on Thorens TD124 as an experiment
VTA no adjustment
VTF 2.0 gms
mATED TO Aikido Phono stage
(wonderful combo as soundstage is deep and very black) cart is inexpensive as well

This a very interesting and informative thread started by Arnold. It would be a better thread if posters stayed on topic instead of posting irrelevant and off topic personal commentary. I am sure many others feel this way. So, let's follow the rules here and keep the quality of this discussion high.

Stumbled upon this old thread when I was looking for any possible discussion about cartridges esp earlier ones like the Shure M55E or its stylus N55E esp Jico version. I kinda like the warmth, and by mounting it tail down, it improved the channel separation with the sound now wider than before. Btw, I'm also interested on the twist wire antiskate..was it a DIY add-on? :?:
