Hi...

Where did you get the threaded steel rods? And the acrylic na rin... (nice!) :)

I tried MC Home Depot, and no luck there (for the rods). I don't suppose Ace Hardware/Handyman/True Value would have those.... Local hardware, perhaps?

Thanks!

the imported acrylic is sold by COMGLASCO, try the directory. it is sold as 6' x 8' sheet. you can ask them to cut it to size like i did, which yielded 8 shelves.

the threaded stainless steel rod was bought at Tensile (something, i forgot the whole name) in Binondo. try stores specializing in nuts and bolts, dahil malaking turnilyo yun!

send me an email, i can give you some more details.

this is how my rack looks now.

I called Tensile Group and Co. na.

For stainless steel, 16 mm diameter, one meter length, about P400+.

For 20 mm diameter (no 18mm available), about P700+.

That's for stainless steel. Didn't get to ask about non-stainless version.

I wonder... if I get the 20 mm diameter... if this can hold a 29" TV....

Not sure where these are.

In any case, had a chance to swing by MC Home at the fort and they do have stainless threaded rods in the plumbing section. They're pre-cut in various lengths. They're called NIPPLES. Dont ask me why - and they're pronounced neep-lhay and not the usual sounding one were used to.

guys, what you will want is SOLID STAINLESS STEEL THREADED RODS not some hollow nickel plated (which looks like stainless) PIPES.

msm, gusto mo din gumawa? hati hati kayo sa acrylic. try the local acrylic, mas mura ng mga 1,000 to 1,500 per sheet.

The topic did begin with NUTS and RODS. Thanks for the clarification ArnoldC, will search for that instead. Did you re-finish them before installing? if so, with what?

ganjaman, the rods i got from Tensile is madumi. but since, they're real stainless steel, it only took a toothbrush and "joy" to remove the grime and dirt ;)

Okay, here's an update:

It was so traffic along Claro M. Recto ave, and I was worried where I would park once I get to Benavidez St (where Tensile is). Then I saw Wilbar (or Wilmar... or Wilbur) NUTS AND BOLTS supply. And there was (paid) parking right beside it!

A 10 foot 16mm (5/8") non-stainless all-thread rod is P180.

The same in Stainless Steel version is P1,200.

Well, guess what I got instead? :)

(I figure, one of my other hobbies is auto-detailing, and I have a lot of polishes/cleaners to clean the rods, and synthetic polymers to protect it from rust et al... I also figure that one of my synthetic polymer claims protection for up to 6 months -- and that's for a car that's exposed to the elements, not "furniture" that's just inside the house)

3/4" MDF board is about P800 (that's 4' x 8')... enough for more than enough shelves (I plan 5), and bases for the TNT Stubby Speaker Stand (I'm making 2 pairs -- one for me, one for a friend).

The nuts and washers are barya barya lang.

Will update you guys when stands and Flexy Table are done. :)
