SPARE PARTS Wish LIst

Postby hypertriode » Sat Oct 04, 2003 10:41 pm

If it's not asking too much, Mickey:
1. more RIKEN resistor values.
2. cheaper audio-grade filter capacitors (aside from black gate and cerafine).
3. hovland musicaps.
4. ELMA or DACT selector switches.
5. PCB-mount ceramic, gold-plated 9-pin sockets.
6. 400 volts MULTICAP RTX caps.
7. TANTALUM resistors.

Hi Mickey. Suggestion : large diameter colored shrinkables for DIY AC cord terminals - at the gear end and at the Meralco end. Or DIY RCA ICs. Maski 3-4 inches length lang. Sa RS one has to buy large volumes.

Hi Quiel, Maybe you can check out your circuit, the input cap could be used to isolate the grid from the input. I had one of these when I used fixed bias on the first stage. DC blocker Arnold would call it. You can used a diff value here. just compute the cutoff freq. = 1/(2*3.24*R*C ) - R being the grid to ground resistor. So with a smaller cap you can use a bigger resistor or the other way around using a smaller cap with a bigger resistor and you get the same cutoff freq.

Hi Brady, Will check those out. If you need DIY ICs I have some bullet plugs. can give you #34 magnet wires. they sound great! nice highs. the theory i learned here is that the thinner the wire the lower the resistance to high freq. so i just put several strands in a teflon tube to improve the bass. tough part here is the scraping of the varnish. cant burn it off. its too thin.

I saw some Blackgate N on Silver Strings the last time I went there but they don't have prices yet. Values were 10uF/50v, 100uF/16v and 1000uF/50v. Any prices yet for these Sir Mickey?
