I'm using a KEF Reference 105/3 (circa 1995). It's sensitivity is 93 db 4 ohms conjugate load matching system..This means that the speaker puts out resistance so that the load to the amplifier is constantly at 4ohms.

I'll use the 300b amp with the epos 11 if it ever arrives here.

Well since we are talking about what we will match it with...I hope to use it with the fostex bookshelf from wired state.

...and one day, I hope to use with Avante-Garde horns! :) :)

ARE,
Thanks man. My Super Tono 300B will be paired with my DIY full-loaded backhorn using the new Fostex 168EZ. If the evaluations of the 300B is really true (from some of our brothers here), it will be a match made in heaven. I'm presently using my horn with a 300 watt SS amp (using about 3 watts max) and very satisfied with the result. Amandarae listened to my set up and he can vouch how good it was. I'm also in the process of building another horn, now a folded design. Godspeed.

why will you adjust it?

if there is a need to fineadjust, you will need a digital voltmeter (at the AC setting) and longnose pliers.

according to sir Ed we can occasionally check the voltage reading at the output of L and R channel with the speakers attached to check if it is within the desired level to produce the min hum(I forgot the level :? , what is it again nga boss?) If not we can adjust, kaya lang mukhang mahirap kasi its not like a potentiometer na me min and max while rotating CW or CCW tapos baka ma burn ka pa nung malalaking 300Bs  . And since 300Bs have different chracteristics, pag nag tube roll tayo or nagkapalit yung R and L tubes, we have to re adjust. (tama ba understanding ko mga boss?)

Kaya monitor monitor na lang muna ako.. :) :)

Hi,

You can adjust the hum balance pot to achieve minimum hum level by placing your ear near your speakers while you turn the pot and listen where you can hear the least amount of hum.

Or, if you have a good quality digital voltmeter, place your voltmeter in AC and measure the AC hum at the speaker terminals. You should get anything between 5mv to 15 mV reading. The reading is also dependent on the quality of your AC mains. Make sure you don't have signal in the input.

If the hum is not audible from your listening position, then just listen to music :-)

Sir Vintage Dog,

I am a newbie in vinyl. I don't have any set up devoted exclusively to audio. However, I bought a Technics SL-23 as a start up. If I will order your tube amp, what speakers would you recommend to match the amp (budget would be up to PhP50 th for speakers)? And what would an amp do?

Tnx
