This is my first post. I would appreciate if you guys could give your opinions/recommendations regarding my future set up

My set up:

Marantz PM8005
Marantz CD5004
Polk Audio RTi A9

Would appreciate all the info I could get. 100% for music use. I'll be getting this set up from Listening in Style (Shangri-la Plaza, Edsa Shaw). My Room size is 15x18 ft. Thanks :D

compare the denon turntable with the audiotechnica lp240 which i believe is also available at LIS. sturdier build plus standard headshell and all adjustments available. the denon advantage is the auto play function.

One question I think you should have a definitive answer to is whether you still really need a CD player.

The alternative to a CD player is using a streamer-DAC set-up. If you have a spare / old computer lying around, that can potentially take care of the streaming side. This is not without its hassles. For one, you need to rip all your CD's properly which can be a tedious process. Further, you'd need to tinker around with your computer to optimize it for audio streaming / rendering--this can be part of the fun for tinkering types but can be very frustrating for those with computer-phobia.

In my humble opinion, the advantages of a streamer-DAC set-up outweigh that of a traditional spinning disc set-up. First, having a computer as a source opens up the use of new services like Spotify, Pandora, Tidal, etc. Second, you may fancy getting into high resolution downloaded music. Third, to my ears, in my system, in my room (or headphones), properly ripped CDs sound better than spinning CDs.

Hope this helps and good luck!

+1 on not getting a CD player. Unless you have thousands of them why bother with a dead format?

Silly boy ;)

Yes, if you are just starting with CDs. Stop. Don't get a CDP; instead consider downloads and setup Computer Audio.
In fact, if you have less than 100 CDs, you still should seriously consider Computer Audio rather than splurge :P your money for CDPs + CDs. Sayang na.
But if you have more, then perhaps a CDP 'could' still be reasonable...

Still, Computer Audio seems to be the most rational choice now.

Oh, yes, your choice system looks fine for starters and perhaps as a long-term investment as well.

But you are entering a hobby that can be 'demanding'
