Phono Sensitivity

Postby raprapsquared » Wed Jan 08, 2014 2:10 pm

So my receiver (NAD 7030) conked out on me, and i got a new amp (Onkyo Integra A755 nII)

Thing is, it has a phono sensitivity toggle

I have an AT120e on right now, and I keep the toggle at 1.2mV, because it sounds the best out of the 3 positions, will this cause any problems?

Thanks!

Not familiar with onkyo sensitivity settings but when you select the 2.4mv or 4.8mv, does it sound louder?

The reverse actually, 1.2 is louder than 2.4 and 4.8 :o

Ok, it may just be a a simple cartridge loading switch. Did you try switching at 2.4 then crank up the volume of the amp?

its a gain selector for various cartridge output. no problem to switch to any of them....adjust volume to get the right loudness.

hey thats a nice thing the PHONO SENSITIVITY switch....lucky you.because most manufacturers have a diff idea of every phono output that is a VERY GREAT IDEA plus there is the MM and the MC to contend with...the greatest danger always is overloading an input from a source that is of a higher output beyond the inputs capability, its gonna sound like crap if it does....so this is a wonderful thing to have man.....

Oh I get it now, if the output (cart) is high, then the input (amp) must have the capability to handle the signal, otherwise it blows? Kaya if nasa 2.4 or 4.8 yun toggle, kelangan ko lakasan volume ng amp, because the amp becomes set for a cart with a higher output than the at120e? Tama ba?
