Good Pm Sir Paul, I hope the RP6 would really soothe the itch
thanks for the reply, hope you dont mind me asking is the rega brand (Turn Tables) really good as per what I have been reading from the internet? thanks in advance
They sold a lot of them so something must be right. It is so subjective, everyone has different preferences so there is no right or wrong answer.
I think with any TT, its a learning curve (or find a friendly expert) on setting them up properly to get the most out of them. Of course different cartridges for different people.
I lean towards vintage idler drives....
If this is all totally new to you, consider staying with the R1, get used to setting up the arm and cartridge, change the feet, change where you put it and what you put it on etc and see what works best for you. When you think you are getting maximum performance, buy a "better" cartridge.
While you are doing the above, listen to other's TT's and work out what you like or do not like.
Then think about changing the TT.
I put my R3 motor and glass platter into a wood block and was pleased with the result, i ended up with a Grace 707 arm and Clearaudio MM cartridge. Worked for me!
