Re: Randy Couture vs James Toney: UFC vs Boxing

Postby kabubi » Sun Aug 29, 2010 12:19 pm

it wasn't thrilling because it was a mismatch :(

a good one dimensional fighter will never win against a good mix martial arts fighter. anytime. i knew that the first take-down wold be enough. from the single leg grab to the full mount to the arm triangle to the side mount in order to add pressure to the arm triangle, Capt America all the way. as Randy himself said in the post-fight, 9 mos of preparation may not be enough to neutralize the skills of an accomplished MMA warrior. specially one in the caliber of The Natural.

but i gotta hand it to Toney, bai. it takes a lot of valor to step up to the UFC coming from the boxing profession. in fact, James is the first boxer to do so. on that he deserves enveryone's respect.

as of this writing, BJ Penn looks sluggish compared to the guy who dethroned him, Frankie Edgar. there may be a new order in the UFC Lightweight division.

Re: Khan vs Maidana: Dec 12, manila

Postby pinoy_usa8 » Sun Dec 12, 2010 12:52 pm

At the opening, Khan came out with 2 guns blazing putting Maidana down w/ a liver punch.

Khan got caught w/ that overhand right and got wobbled, and he almost went down. it was a long run until he was saved by the bell.

Khan is faster in both hands n feet but he needs to borrow the "acero chin" of Pacquiao. He got a big improvement after he trained w/ Roach, not until he will sharpen his chin and mold into a granite,..Khan can never and will never follow the footstep of his idol Manny Pacquiao.

Morales vs Maidana

Postby pinoy_usa8 » Sun Apr 10, 2011 11:31 am

About to start, they're entering the ring now.

Morales will try to box his way to victory, but I think Maidana will KO Morales inside 8 rounds.

I was wrong about Morales. He reached the 12th full rounds.

It's youth that propelled Maidana to victory, other than that there was nothing special of his win. If there's something significant the fight has made it's the confirmation of Eric's greatness by defying the odds. True to his credential as the only man alive to beat a prime Pacquiao, the aging Morales gave the rugged and brawler Maidana scary moments he'd never had with Khan (save for that early knockdown where he immidiately recovered to give Khan some heavy troubles in the late rounds).

I hope this hall of fame bound true mexican warrior hangs finally the leathers for his health.

golden boy would probably stage a rematch. erik thought he won the match and maidana was very willing to give erik another chance for the simple reason that he himself was not totally convinced by his win. mexicans love erik, they still do not want to leave up until they have listened to what eric has got to say. i salute this warrior!

JuanMa Lopez vs Orlando Salido: this saturday

Postby pinoy_usa8 » Fri Apr 15, 2011 11:28 pm

Another easy fight for Lopez.
Gamboa fight is his barometer, so with Donaire in 2012 hopefully.

Margarito is done in boxing

Postby pinoy_usa8 » Tue May 17, 2011 9:02 am

Blame it all to Margarito and part to, the 3rd man on the ring.

That fight against Pacquiao was his worst nightmare and that was Margarito's last payday after his doctor discovered a detached retina in his right eye. And his suppose another million $ rematch with Cotto was cancelled.

PS: pasmado ata itong doctor na ito

Khan vs Judah: sunday in mla 7/24

Postby pinoy_usa8 » Sun Jul 24, 2011 4:27 am

Amir Khan's WBA belt against Zab Judah's IBF for a unification bout.

Zab has a slim chance though, but If he can sneak-in his power punches and go inside in the early rounds to Khan's glass chin, then he will have his chances of winning this fight against the young speedster, Amir.

Khan's game plan should stay outside, protect his suspected chin and box his way out for the 12th and final round, but if he will find an opening, surely he will go for a knockout.

Lets find out.

Linarez vs De Marco

Postby pinoy_usa8 » Sun Oct 16, 2011 11:54 am

That was a big blunder for Jorge who went toe-to-toe on that fateful 11th round. He was leading,..why he did the "Kamikaze"? He should have gotten that WBC lighweight belt. Or maybe whats he's been thinking was the doctor,..who might stop the fight because of his cuts.

I hope there's a rematch clause on that fight. That was a hell of a fight,.. could steal the show of Bhop-Dawson

Too bad for Linarez.H e was leading by a mile. He could have been smarter in the last rounds and followed exactly what Roach said, i.e, not allow De Marco to pressure him.

BHop though deserves an Oscar Award, in my books. I strongly doubt he hurt his shoulder.

Postby pinoy_usa8 » Sat Dec 03, 2011 6:37 pm

Brandon Rios, (28-0-21) will be fighting against briton John Murray (31-1-18) foer the vacant WBA belt.

I think, Murray got a chance (at least) pulling an upset tomorrow, sunday in manila.
