all decisions taken at the time and even today are based on cost impact....
competition then was as tight as a vise, and yet these tube manufacturers
buy tubes from one another when their production can not meet their shipping schedules...

on topic:
i haven't seen a TONO Violin firsthand, but the 12au7 version of TONO i have seen
and i wonder if they used the same topology....
of course there only a few ways of connecting this tube, but it would be nice to see the innards
so i can figure out if what i think it is is what it actually is.... 8)

same old some old...i had hoped the shape change was for improved sound or some other significant technical reason.
For sure i like the look of the original shape!

you can try the 5T4 on your Violin and find out...

there are new production 5U4 that are sexy looking, you can try that too....
