Mark Levinson No.23.5

Postby jamzy » Mon Nov 04, 2013 9:07 am

Anyone here previously or currently own this classic Mark Levinson 23.5? Having it for almost 5 months now, and so far my experience is superb, always blown on how much improvement the sound is coming out of my Martin Logan Re-Quest. I'd like to hear from someone else experience here....

The 23.5 was my very first ML amp. I later went on to own 3 and 4 series ML 200 watters. Yup, it was a really nice amp.

Jack-Glad to hear your positive feedback of the 23.5. During the 90 day trial period of this machine I stumbled to another ML, the 332. It was quite a tough decision in my part to pick between the two heavy weight machine. But based on my research and hearing negative feedbacks about the capacitor leakage issue and the cost of repair, it then narrowed down my choice to stick with my first pick.

What system do you currently have?

Jamzy pls follow this link: viewtopic.php?f=49&t=18811

I'm curious how your ML Requests, which are older but have much larger ESL panels, compares to the latest ML hybrid speakers like the Summit and the Montis.

Hi Jamzy,

Depending on mood I alternate between Lamm and KR Audio. The more complete system profile can be found here

Sadly my days with the 23.5 were before I had a digital camera :(

Very hefty equipments you have, loved it! Almost the same as what I've recently seen and listened to here in Chicago-incredible speakers! but loved the Wilson Alexandria the most! Powered by BOULDER Super Amps...

1,500 watts at 8 Ohms
Pure Class A operation
Fully balanced
120 output devices
450 pounds
Dual 240-volt electric lines required
6,000-watts maximum consumption
Four toroidal power transformers
Vanishing levels of distortion
75-pound carved granite base
Extensive mechanical resonance damping

Plus DCS Vivaldi playback system. Sounded like I was inside Chicago Symphony Orchestra! :D

I just got back from the Tokyo Audio Show and saw the Boulder 3060 (stereo version) in person for the first time. Oh my, those amps are HUGE. They made the Westlake towers look like regular floor standers! The Constellation Hercules IIs are darned pretty as well.

I wish! That was 20 years of dreaming and saving. Became an audio distributor to make the hobby pay for itself. That worked out great but the focus now is on the software :)

Don't forget the 27.5 if you had less demanding speakers. Another gem. :)

Miss ya Zach!
