Here is my official entry meet Janus the Amp and his partner Thin Man.

Image

The amp is a two face meaning it can use either a 45 or 2A3 tube. All the irons
are locally wind except the choke. The voltage amp and the driver uses a 6CG7/6FQ7
and 5R4 rectifier for 45 and 5AR4 for 2A3.
The speakers are Fostex FE206 on a transmission line box.

The costs 25k including a set of 45 ST tube and a rectifier.
I bought the speakers for $200 and paid 3k for the cabinet materials.
So it's within the budget range.

erik,

nice speaker and amp combination. with that budget, i think only fullrange drivers will fit the bill.

The box is transmission line. I think Lin Gomez have some Beyma 6" full range drivers that's within target
Range.

Actually Lin and I had a discussion about this if its feasible and considered the beyma drivers. I remember Jon Agner bought a pair of beymas some years ago, just can't remember if its 6" or 8".
