need advice on acrylic cover for Almarro 318B

hi guys,

i recently acquired an Almarro 318B. i'm thinking of using an acrylic to cover the whole amp. this is for protection: for my kids and the amp as well. ganda kasi nun glow nun tubes so gusto ko makita yun glow while playing it.

could you share some experience on this? (like thickness of the acrylic to be used and perhaps some drawings or pics). saw pics on the net on some tube amps and it looks very nice. i'm just afraid that the acrylic may not withstand the heat. thanks in advance for the usual advice.

hi... the acrylic cover will prevent heat produced by the tubes from dissipating into the room.

It won't bro! The contained heat would also adversely affect the amp! But it would serve as a nice protection (from dust or prying hands) when not in use

Sir Rene is right. Rather have a metal or aluminum cage with abundant holes for ventilation fabricated. Will prolong the life of your tubes, your traffo and the almarro! Congrats on your almarro, one of the better sounding set amps around!

Why not design a hybrid cover incorporating both the acrylic viewing window with the metal grill

You can buy a lot of acrylic material "clear color" in manila, ask for any size to glued them.
Or you can buy piece of syringe with chloroform & DIY.

i was able to find a shop here in Singapore that sells and customizes acrylic.
