@buknoy,

the two pre-amps are representative of 2 topologies, the 6SN7/6N8s is a Broskie implementation and is tube rolling friendly...
the 13FM7 is feedback type cascaded common cathode topology, this is not tube rolling friendly as the character
of the amp is controlled by the feedback resistors, just like the MF x10d buffer, it will maintain its characteristic sonic signature
even as the tube ages...more like the Broskie Aikido....

as you conduct listening sessions with your friends, please take note of their feedbacks and see what you like better... :)

this is the preamp, it's a broskie ccda implementation....
2 inputs, one output designed to mate with jojod's babyG..
the preamp can use a 6dj8, 6n23, ecc88, 6922, etc....

Thanks for sharing sir tony! Sayang, I wasn't able to see and audition sir francis' pre-amp when I went to his place last Saturday.

I remember asking this before. I noticed that some of the RCA inputs are located in the front part of the preamp. Though I prefer all RCA ports to be at the back for aesthetic purposes. You mentioned that one advantage for placing the input at the front is the ease of changing sources (cd player, DAC, etc) and/or cables. Are there any other advantages (technical, electrical, etc) of placing the input at the front?

Thanks sir Tony!

the main reason i want to put all rca input jacks in front
is to give more distance away from ac power line components,
besides very short distances to input grids which i consider a plus,
i value function over aesthetics, many will find this ugly.... ;)

the Dynaco ST70 did this and i agree it is a good practice... 8)

Thank you sir Tony! Sir Jojo also mentioned this (function first) to me before when I had my Buffalo II DAC assembled a few years ago :)
