I'll take a shot at replying to this... I'm currently using a hotrodded DCB1. It sounds more fluid than the stock DCB1 circuit (but runs HOT!)

Doc's current B1 is a hybrid of sorts - it has a single supply hotrodded Salas Shunt regulator. (So it runs hot too!). He can best explain the sonic differences between the B1 (stock) and Hotrodded Salas Shunt(ed) B1

No reason why it shouldn't be a good match (electrically and sonically) since impedence matching won't be an issue, and it's a quiet, transparent circuit all by itself.
