HELP ON REPAIR OF PRE-AMP

Postby denlopez » Fri Dec 10, 2010 9:35 am

I have a Sonic Frontiers Linestage-1 Pre-Amp that needs some repair work. The right channel has some distortion (fuzzy sound). I would appreciate it very much if anyone can recommend a technician who can help repair the pre-amp. Thanks in advance.

A friend of mine has a SF preamp as well with the same problem. Im sure Rene or Rod T can fix it. You can also try Mr. Sevilla of kinetics

If its tubes, try Mang Rod or Rene. Flashback audio for solid state.

Many thanks for all the recommendations. Will try them but most likely after the Christmas season.

in the old days owners of tube equipment also did some troubleshooting on their own, this is fairly easy to do, just swap the tubes around, if it is a weak tube it will show itself...so turn off your gear, swap tubes from left channel with that of the right...do this one after the other until you get to expose any bad tube...

do this after swapping your interconnect cables also.....

sometimes just jogging the tubes in their sockets fixed problems too.... oxidized, or tarnished sockets was the cause...

be sure to power down on each tube swap.....godd luck....
