DIY pre-amp casing

Postby endrik35 » Thu Dec 09, 2010 6:11 pm

Guys, I need your help. My friend Leslie and I recently made a DIY Nelson Pass designed B1 pre-amp. However, the pre-amp casing we sourced from Malaysia is kinda ugly. The project turned out well, the B1's harmonics is spot on! Mundorf caps really helped a lot with the SQ. Yung casing nga lang ang pangit. Turned out to be a sleeper pre-amp with a giant-killer potential yet with an ugly casing. :( Recently, my friend from HK, David Wong from Lenco Heaven e-mailed me regarding pre-amp casings made in China. He said I can order it online but I find the prices too steep for my taste. However, here is the e-mail and the links sent out to me by David for the benefit of our DIY co-member's who have money to spend.

PM me when you get closer to the dates and we can meet up. My mobile is 91990083.

Here are some links provided by my DIY friends.

Pls. see below links. The first one accept mail order to oversea.

This is what we built in recent years. Chassis clone from PassLab X1, internal circuit is Aleph P.

Besides, they do make other 'clone' of ML, MBL, Burmester, etc......

Beautiful casings indeed but I'm looking for a cheaper option that is available locally. I prefer aluminum over steel. Hope you could help me guys on this matter. Thanks and Godbless! :)

If you want aluminium, you can have one CnC'd to your specs. There's a topic somewhere in this forum on this, as I recall.

Not simonzaide, but yes, Deeco has a variety of casings available. I'm not sure 'though if their branch in Santolan has it, but I used to buy casings from the cubao branch

Nakita ko din yun. No offense meant pero parang masyadong commercial ang dating ng casing. Nothing special sa aesthetics. I was thinking medjo classical look. Yun 3" X 4" ba, yun ang front panel? Then 8" yun depth?

True, thin steel and plastic. Alexan has aluminium casings available, pero industrial looking. The better ones (aluminium) I saw were from Eleshop. :)
