working with aluminum

Postby tony » Wed Jan 20, 2010 1:59 pm

aluminum is my favorite material to work on.....madaling butasin, kikilin......

i get my aluminum sheets from Sulimco Metals, 240 San Bernardo Street, beside Aranque market and across the street from Security bank bldg....
you can buy cut to size aluminum, nagtitingi sila at madaling kausap yung chinoy na may-ari...the 13in x 16 in x ga.16 sheet cost me around 200 pesos...

from there i proceeded across c. m. recto street to Unity Metalworks, at 812 T. Alonzo St. Sta Cruz, owned by another chinoy, Pio to have those aluminum sheets cut and bent to box like...make sure you have your drawings ready....you can have your chassis bent while you wait....that cost me another 200 pesos...

after sanding and smoothing out the rough edges, i sent my chassis to Bell Metalcraft at 20 A. Quiogue st. Caniogan, Pasig City for "zinc chromate" treating my finished chassis.....cost is 120 pesos per kilogram...

zinc chromate gives a yellowish finish to the chassis:

they also have bright zinc finish, gives your aluminum chassis a metalic silver look:

bitin, as you can see, hindi natapos yung inter-conection between the driver tube and the output tubes....2 pcb strips containing the pots for bias adjustments and tags for interconnections......this amp used the dynaco st70 output traffo....will be back in april to finish it... :D

as i type this, am here at my room at the LADA hotel, in Yuzhno-Sahkalin, can't move up north yet, there's a storm coming that way....the trip will be 12 hours by train and 1 hour by helicopter.....
