about 1.5mV hum with balanced filament supply (no hum balance pot).

Hi Arnie,

I actually saw that amp at the diy room kitchen (audio fair)... Sayang i didn't get to hear it. Anyways, are the balanced filament chokes you used the custom types made by the Tono winder? I remember Prof JM talking about the winding method used for the custom filament chokes for the orig TB2A3 I just don't remember the layman's explanation on how it was wound... Have you tried adding quality hum pots to reduce the hum even more even if the hum is already at acceptable at 1.5mV? Thanks.

red, i don't use filament chokes, we never did. filament supply comes from 1.25-0-1.25V AC. i do have those expensive TDO 50W hum balance pots, but di na bale, sayang lang. papangit pa chassis ko at layout.

abangan mo 300B ko, it will be quite different from the past stuff i made. my own brew din.

MP,

Hindi mo pa nakita ang pang-ilalim niyan. Tumulo laway ko nang makita ko kung paano pinaghirapan ni Arnold yan. Ika nga sa kotse, nikelado pati tambutso at oil pan.

Arnold,

Di ba for sale yan? Binawi mo na ba?

Cheers! 8)

Thanks Arnie for clarifying, yung balanced winding pala sa pwr trafo (HT taps).

I'd be looking forward in hearing your 300B PP project. :)

red76, it's different from what i've made before, because it's fixed bias, SS rectified for the filaments, and has voltage regulator tubes for the driver stage. pentode driver too :)

Hi Arnie,

Merong scheme na tinatawag nilang "semi-fixed bias".. Pero di ko alam advantage yung trick biasing arrangement yun. Just kinda skimmed on it sa ibang forum, diyaduio.com ata. Schottkys sa filaments? Ok yan. Hmm.. Early WE pentodes yan no? :) Hanep, fully tube regulated driverstage pa. PS filtering scheme nya hybrid, pure tube, or ss?
