Inspired by ArnoldC's DIY Rack, here is my yet to be finished marble rack..
Image
.. yet to be finished since i ran out of funds to have the edges rounded (and that costs a lot of moolah).

Superb rack T-Rex! I'm just wondering, what made you choose marble over acrylic pare?

Thanks Don Racio.

I chose marble becuz

- Upclose the Marble really looks nice (Verde Alphi), sayang lang  that i ran out of funds to have the edges rounded and finshed/polished.

- As far as i've checked parang :? upto 1/2" lang thickness available ng Acrylic from the store's i've checked. (I wanted something thicker like 3/4" to 1").

- Incase of the Marble i was able to buy it 1 slab at a time. When i had some money i would buy a slab kaya naunti-unti ko  . Sa acrylic 1 time payment agad.

acrylic is available with more than 1/2" thickness such as 3/4" or 1" but you have to pay for that thickness.

nice work rex, let us know how it will affect the sonic character of the equipment when it's done - halatang computer molested image :D

Ayan! kita mo, so much better than the previous one!! pwede mo din lagyan ng "acorn" or "cup" nut yung top end ng threaded rod. kaya lang yung nabili ko hindi stainless steel :( mukhang chromed lang so nung napawisan ko, natutunaw na yung chrome :(:(

Sir might be nickel plating lang po, real chrome plating is like a real stainless steel it will corrode when you deep scratch it up to the base (metal). Nickel plating is like a paint that can be peel if the preparation is not really good. Chrome is the most expensive process among the two.
BTW, sometimes we are confused about the difference of Chrome & Nickel plating. I suggest go for what they call "Hard Chrome" for the Best Quality! - Just my five cents! Sir ang gaganda ng mga DIY nyo at wiredstate they deserve first class finishing!

My 45 amplifier, primarily based on Gordon Rankin's 417A operating point, I've created this brew to suit my preferences.

Image

- Tamura F-475 output transformers
- Tamura A-395 choke
- Custom power transformer
- Custom primary choke
- Jensen Copper in Foil coupling capacitors
- Audio Professor 47uF x 2 and Solen 10uF 630V PSU capacitors
- Black Gate coupling capacitors
- Aluminum clad 15W cathode resistors
- Audience Cable internal signal wiring
- Raytheon 5842 x 2
- 245 power tubes x 2
- 5U4-G rectifier x 1

Power supply is CLCLC in design, very silent even on high-efficiency speakers, about 1.5mV hum with balanced filament supply (no hum balance pot). Point-to-point wiring and uses star ground method.

Really nice :D is there really a big difference using audience internal wiring? :)

thanks guys :) mike, you have to try it. it must be application dependent pero in my experience so far on this amp and as speaker jumper wires, the audience wires do make a difference.
